Plumber in Pooler, GA

Pooler at a glance

Pooler is a city of 25,711 people (2020 census) in northwestern Chatham County, where Interstates 95 and 16 meet. It borders Port Wentworth, Garden City and Bloomingdale, and US 80 runs nine miles east into downtown Savannah.

What that means for your plumbing

Much of Pooler was built in the last few decades, mostly on concrete slabs. Newer homes rarely need full repiping, but water heaters and fixtures installed with the house wear out around the same time. A warm patch on the floor can also mean a line under the slab is leaking; see leak detection and repair.

Busy family homes

The 2020 census counted 10,272 households, nearly a third of them with children under 18. More laundry, showers and dishes put extra load on drains and water heaters. If hot water runs out early, read about water heaters.

Pooler's Station

The city is named for railroad employee Robert William Pooler. During the Civil War it was Pooler's Station, the last stop before Savannah on the Central of Georgia Railway, and in December 1864 Union officers under William Tecumseh Sherman met there while negotiating Savannah's peaceful surrender. Older homes near the original railroad town are the most likely to have cast-iron drains; if several fixtures slow at once, see drain cleaning.
